About Survival
Is TeenPact Survival really hard?
Survival is held outdoors so that we can separate from life’s normal distractions and communicate more clearly with God and with each other. We do teach Survival skills, but our goal is not to create a group of die hard survivalists. We teach survival skills to illustrate spiritual things and to provide a challenge for your team to overcome.
You will not be sleeping in the woods. We sleep in cabins and require everyone to have a shower each day. Everything else, though, including cooking, meals, and sessions are outdoors.
What do I have to attend in order to come to Survival?
Survival is a TeenPact alumni event; that means that once you attend a TeenPact State Class at your capitol, you can come to Survival. Survival was started in 1999 by Curtis Whatley in Georgia, and continues to be rated by students as a favorite TeenPact alumni event.

Can parents come?

We love having parents at Survival because they provide additional wisdom, perspective, and encouragement for everyone. Parents should come with the understanding that they will not be involved directly with the running of the program. Parents have shared frequently with us that they end up getting a lot out of the week personally; seeing their sons or daughters function on the team, spending time outdoors, listening to sessions, serving with the food, and fellowshipping with other parents present many opportunities for parents to engage.
What do you do at TeenPact Survival?
You and your team will compete with other teams on a broad spectrum of activities. Shooting sports, orienteering, teambuilding obstacles, and strategy games are all a part of a packed schedule. Teams earn points by being the best at a broad spectrum of activities ranging from obstacles to decision making to shooting sports.
The activities and training at Survival are very intentional. There is always a spiritual application for what we are doing, and there are also life applications as well. Each evening, we come together and have a debrief time where everyone is encouraged to share what God is teaching them. Students, parents, and staff have told us that these have been the most powerful moments for them at Survival.
Most importantly, though, we take a good bit of time to focus on God. Worship, sessions, and time alone with God are all a daily priority. You will be challenged to grow in your walk with God, and will be encouraged to do so as an individual and as a team member.
What do you teach at Survival?

Everything we do at Survival is focused on answering these 3 questions:
1: Do you have what it takes to be an effective team member? Throughout the week at Survival, we have many challenges that must be completed with your team. As your team moves through each phase of team building, we provide you with what the Bible has to say about each phase. Defining the vision for your team, handling conflict, communicating well, selecting an effective leader, delegating, and improving what is already working are included in what you will learn. The relationships you form with your team mates will last for a lifetime!
2: What does the Bible say about leading ourselves and others? Survival’s curriculum draws from the original TeenPact Staff Training curriculum. It is for students who are serious about becoming leaders at home, at church, at work, and withinTeenPact. We also discuss personal leadership: How do we determine God’s will? What does God’s Word have to say about making decisions? What gifts has God given us that we can be using more effectively?
3: Where are you in your walk with God: slipping, stagnant, or growing? This is the most important aspect of Survival. At Survival, we strive to have a spiritual purpose for everything we do. We love to identify how our activities illustrate spiritual principles from God’s Word. Each evening, we take time to do this together.
